Chapter 114 —Her memories... not so foreign

Narrator:

Morning light streamed through the half-closed curtains in the kitchen. Amalia finished serving breakfast while Sasha, already dressed for school, sat down in front of the bowl of fruit that Aylin had prepared. Roman was reading the newspaper on his phone screen, but his attention was divided. Aylin, on the other hand, wasn't pretending to be doing anything else: she was discreetly watching Sasha, waiting.

“Did you sleep well?” Aylin asked, pouring her some juice.

“Yes,” Sasha replied without looking up. “I fell asleep right away.”

Roman put his phone down on the table, face down.

“Did you dream about anything?”

“No,” she said. Then she hesitated for a few seconds. “Well... I don't remember.”

Aylin exchanged a quick glance with Roman.

“Everything okay with yesterday?” she insisted gently.

Sasha nodded as she absentmindedly stirred the banana pieces with her spoon.

“Yes. I like her. I like talking to her.”
