Charlie frowned. “This Italian organization alone managed to kidnap about six girls. If a few other gangs were involved as well and each of them supplied about six girls, that would be at least twenty to thirty people. Aren’t they quite bold to allow that many people to go missing at once? Don’t they fear the investigation of the Vancouver police?”

Porter nodded. “I found it strange as well at first, but after some interrogation, we found out that they have a complex relationship with the police. The targets are mostly illegal immigrants, and they would also threaten the victim’s family against making a fuss, so on the whole, the number of missing people in Vancouver looks rather average on paper.”

Then, Porter added, “Also, I heard that their supplier has a much stronger background. For excellent girls such as Ms. Lewis, they would supply them to wealthy and affluent people in Europe and the United States, so some of the buyers might be hidden tycoons or aristocrats. Rather strong
