Laura took a deep breath.

“Calm down… let’s call Alex,” she said, already reaching into her purse for her phone.

Edgar caught her arm before she could dial.

“No.”

The word was short. Firm.

Laura looked at him in surprise. Edgar fell silent. Thoughtful. The kind of silence that was unsettling.
