Selena’s face froze from an indescribable emotion rising in her heart. She looked at Donovan as if he was a bug that needed to be crushed underfoot.

“Ah, my bad,” Donovan apologized. “Did I spook you, dear?”

“Shut up,” Selena swiftly slapped him. Because of the bushes around him, he couldn’t move and defend himself. As a result, a sound slap struck his cheek. Donovan was shocked. This was probably the first time he had received such a slap from a woman. But his shock soon turned into an angry
