Brendan squinted his eyes. "The reason is simple. She slandered Emily, and your eyes will never recover."
Tears welled up in Shea's eyes. “No, Mr. Brighthall, I didn’t do it!”
“You didn’t? Then how do you explain this?” Brendan gave her a warning look.
Shea was speechless. She didn’t even know what had happened. The bread she had taken was the one that had been bitten and she hadn’t let anyone touch it. How could this be?
Her silence made Brendan think that she was unable to refute.
