Jess pointed at the slide that stretched from the fifth floor all the way down to the third, bouncing with excitement. "Ray, I want to play on that slide!"

She looked like a little girl again, pure joy lighting up her face.

Ray naturally couldn't refuse and nodded. "Go ahead."

But Jess wasn't about to climb up by herself—she grabbed Ray and pulled him along.

The two of them reached the fifth floor, hugged each other, and slid down together.

Whoosh!

They landed on the third floor, and Jess
