As he kissed her, all the things Lucas said to him once again filled his head.

He had never felt guilty about getting what he wanted through dirty tricks. Even his grandfather used to teach him to get what he wanted through all means necessary. The ends always justified the means for him, and back then, he did indeed get what he desired.

Yet now, he was terrified that she might find out how despicable he had been in the past. She had been so disgusted with him when she learned that he had done nothing to help her back when she was thrown in jail, so he wondered anxiously how she would feel if she found out about his other unsavory deeds.

Guilt had never been a part of his vocabulary before, yet now, it engulfed him and was eating him up from the inside.

"Serenity…" he murmured her name after the kiss ended. "Everything I've done was done because I love you too much."
