Alex said, “Don’t bring any. I’m already drinking some iron-replenishing soup every day.”
He glanced at Stanley.
Prepared by Stanley, two out of his three daily meals included soup. After drinking it for so many days, he was starting to get tired of it.
“You know, you guys can just come empty-handed. There’s no need to bring anything. I’m not lacking anything here.”
“How could we visit a patient in the hospital empty-handed? Buying a fruit basket is only proper.”
Alex was speechless.
Kevin pulled over a chair and sat down by his brother’s bed.
Stanley poured a cup of water for Kevin and then left the room, giving the brothers space to discuss topics he should not overhear.
“Has Hayden returned to Jensburg?” Alex asked.
“Yes, she’s gone back. There’s a lot going on at the company. She can’t be away for too many days.”
Alex chuckled, “Hayden probably couldn’t wait to get back to Jensburg. During summer vacation, it’s rare for you guys to have time without the kids.”
