When Oliver pulls up in front of the house in the village, he parks haphazardly and jumps out of the car, gripped by a terrible feeling that sends ice through his veins.
The silence surrounding the place only makes his uneasiness worse.
Without a second thought, he marches to the front door and pounds on it, not caring if he wakes the neighbors.
“Henri!” he shouts, his voice firm despite the anxiety tightening his chest. “Open this door right now!”
He bangs on it again, even harder.
No answer.
