“Samantha”
For the past week, I've been waking up every night in the middle of the night to my cell phone ringing, and when I answered, no one spoke on the other end. The only sound I could hear was heavy breathing, as if the person on the other end were panting, and it was making me anxious.
This was making me frantic. I was nervous, anxious, and wasn't sleeping well. I already had terrible dark circles under my eyes, and I was tired.
“Sam... Sam!” Heitor's voice snapped me out of my reverie.
“Huh?! What's wrong, my darling?” I sighed.
“Sam, you need to sleep.” Heitor was visibly upset. “We should exchange your cell phone number.”
“It's not necessary. This will stop.” I didn't want to change the number I've had for so long.
“Then start leaving your cell phone off at night. If anyone needs to reach you, they'll call me.” "That's a good idea, I'll do it. But now, I have to go to work." I stood up as I spoke.
"Stay home today and rest, I'm sure that won't be a problem for Alessandro."
