I opened the box and I was right; my father didn't skimp on my gift. It was a gold bracelet with rubies and diamonds. The goldwork formed diamond-studded hearts, and between each heart were heart-shaped rubies set in the gold. It was beautiful, ostentatious, and at the same time delicate. But my father's card touched me; he said how much he loved me, that he was proud of me, and that whatever path I decided to take, he would always support me.
