Fifth Chapter- The Condemnation

Upon arriving at the jail, where they would remain imprisoned for the rest of their days, paying their debts to society, the climate inside was not the best, there were signs of a possible rebellion on the part of prisoners dissatisfied with the overcrowding in the cells and the severe penalties to which they were exposed in that place, without authorities taking any action in this regard.

Because they had higher education, the two should receive different treatment from the other inmates inside the prison, staying in separate cells and this only increased the revolt of those who were already upset with the unfair way in which they were treated by the prison's prison. To contain them, they placed them in an upper floor compartment, very close to the terrace.
