In Kate's room, Bastien was lying in bed with her, holding her as she snuggled against his chest, sleeping. Her scent was still mixed with Jake’s lotion, but it was still hers. Bastien had his eyes closed, gently stroking her hair. Kate was asleep but having a nightmare. She whispered:

— Bastien... Bastien... no, please… don’t leave me, Bastien…

Kate’s eyes opened, filled with tears. Bastien hugged her tightly against his chest.

— Shhh... it’s okay, I’m here. I’ll never leave you.

Kate clung to him, breathing in his scent. The door opened, and Bastien frowned, annoyed by the interruption. Someone dared wake his resting woman. The doctor appeared and tilted his head, seeing Bastien lying in bed with Kate in his arms.

— I came to check on the baby, but if you’d prefer, I can leave.

— NO! — Kate sat up quickly — Love, the doctor is here.

Kate nodded, and the doctor smiled as he watched Bastien leap out of bed.

— Alright, young lady, lift your legs and spread them a little.
